Adjust the Seat.

Make sure that the seat back is as vertical as practical. Leaning the seat back counters your ability to detect weight transfer while accelerating or slowing. Similarly, leaning to the side as you corner will decrease your ability to detect the transfer of weight resulting from cornering. Perhaps just as important, sitting up straight will significantly reduce fatigue and ensure a greater degree of alertness.

Position your buttocks well back into the seat. Maintain as much contact between the surface area of your body and the vehicle as possible. This will maximize sensations transmitted through the vehicle to your body, thus improving “communication” with the car. You should think of yourself as an extension of the vehicle. You receive inputs through your senses and transmit responses through your body to and through the mechanics of the vehicle to the tire contact patches. In essence, you are an integral part of the vehicle.
